This JAMTOWN drum is a Rebana (ruh-bah-nah), hand made and painted in Java, Indonesia. The Rebana is played during traditional Muslim ceremonies. This style of frame drum is ancient an many variations are found throughout Asia and the Middle East. The Rebana is sheep skin stretched over a wood frame.
